Each day, participants are presented with opportunities for learning from new and valuable experiences while kayaking and camping in a world-class wilderness destination. During the course, we paddle offshore to visit the ancient Haida village of SGang Gwaay (Ninstints). Numerous challenging and rewarding learning opportunities are facilitated. Our curriculum is comprehensive and our instructors are highly skilled and knowledgeable. The wealth of practical information conveyed and practiced during the course enables each participant to significantly boost their skill level and confidence. The Evolution course is not designed as a paddling holiday. For a more holiday-oriented experience, we offer guided multi-day sea kayak tours through Haida Gwaii with Butterfly Tours. Leadership TrainingLearn highly practical leadership skills and proven guiding techniques from the most experienced sea kayak guide instructor team on Haida Gwaii. The subtle and proficient leadership skills covered during the Evolution course can be successfully applied to many aspects of Life. Learn to correctly assess situations and accurately evaluate options.
Discover how to communicate clearly and concisely with a group, while carrying the responsibility and privilege of leadership. Guide CertificationOur program is designed for prospective certified guides, as well as for kayakers seeking advanced expedition training. The Association of Canadian Sea Kayak Guides (ACSKG) endorses our leadership course. Upon successful completion of the Evolution course, participants may apply for ACSKG Assistant Sea Kayak Guide Certification. ACSKG certificates are recognized by numerous agencies and organizations, including Parks Canada. ACSKG certified assistant guides are permitted to work on overnight and multi-day tours throughout Canada and around the World. The ACSKG requires guides to hold valid wilderness first-aid and VHF radio operators certificates. These additional certificates can be achieved before, or after, the Evolution leadership course.
